SO i have had a few people ask how my delivery went and I want to write it down for my journal too. I am pretty sure i will never forget this delivery but just in case here is how it went.
Sunday January 8th when i woke up i was have really good contractions but they always slowed down, so i just waited until they would pick up again. Around 6pm i started cooking dinner and they were getting stronger and stronger. so i waited for a little longer and finally around 8pm i said it was time so I called the doctor on call and i told him my contractions were lasting 1 1/2 minutes and they were 2 1/2 minutes apart. He said he strongly advises me to go to the hospital, so we got the boys ready and my hospital bags in the car. We took the boys to my moms and off we went. We arrived at the hospital but the Women's Hospital enterance was closed, so we went to look for the emergency enterance and we walked the wrong way. We ended up walking around the whole hospital! which was ok with me because it made the contractions worse and knew they wouldn't send us home! That's been mine and josh's biggest concerns was getting sent home. Anyway, we finally get to labor and delivery and i get all hooked up and monitored. i was dilated at a 4, and effaced 60%. an hour later i was a 5 and 60% effaced, so they admitted me. TessLea was laying on her side still and was putting a lot of pressure in my back so it was uncomfortable to sit or lay down, so i stood next to the bed. We were having trouble getting a good reading on my contractions so they made me lay in bed. and my contractions were slowing down. i got stuck at a 5 and 60% effaced for 5 hours but was still having contractions. so they hooked me up to pitocin to help me get a jumpstart. An hour later i was at a 6 but still 60% effaced so Dr Brown, the husband to my OB Dr Thomas, came in and broke my water. After a while longer the contractions were so strong and i was having a hard time with them, so i took the drug to help me not care, basically made me feel drunk. they still had me on pitocin, and the drug only worked through 4 contractions. Dr Thomas finally came in to check and see where i was at, i was at a 7 1/2-8 and still 60%, so she tried to move TessLea herself and she refused to move. Dr thomas told me she admires me wanting to do thid naturally but my body was fighting against the pitocin and i wasn't progressing. My body was tired and she was worried about me and the baby getting too stressed. She advised me to get an epidural, so my body could relax and so TessLea could flip on her own. By this time i hadn't slept in over 24 hours and i was literally screaming the contractions hurt so bad. I scared josh so bad he had to walk out of the room for a while. I decided with the epidural and by the time the anaesthesiologist got to us i was at a 9 and ready to push. he said he wasn't going to give it to me, that it was too late. My Dr came in and told him he was to give me something because the baby wasn't flipping because my body was fighting, so he decided to give me a spinal tab which would only last for 2 hours. so i went dumb and slept for 15 minutes, then pushed for an hour and TessLea still hadn't flipped, so Dr Thomas had me get on my hands and knees and lay on this peanut ball and push that way. The Spinal Tab was wearing off so i could feel everything. I was so tired i could hardly stay awake while pushing. She finally got close enough to where i could stay awake and finally we had her. She didn't even cry, which scared me at first, i couldn't see her but josh could and told me she was fine, she was just looking around. They got me turned around and cleaned up and i finally got to hold me baby girl. She is perfect! She is such a good baby, good sleeper and good eater! We went through hell getting her here but it was all worth it. Braiden and Houston just love her to death! We all do! She weighed 6 pounds and 14 ounces and was 21 inches long. Pictures to come, i gotta get them from my mom
